Captive Propagation Unfortunately, there are very few Eastern Indigo Snakes available for public education.  One reason is that permits are very difficult to obtain and highly coveted.  But more importantly, is price.  Private breeders outside of the state of Georgia often charge over $1,000 for a specimen.  This is not viable for most institutions such as State Parks and Nature Centers.  To aid in bringing more of these animals into the public, Southern Reptile Education is very pleased to offer the prospect of the first private captive breeding program of Drymarchon couperi.  Each and every offspring produced will become the property of Georgia Department of Natural Resources to be distributed to other educators and institutions throughout the state of Georgia absolutely free of charge.
