We Need Your Help

Support Southern Reptile Education

The scope of what we do at Southern Reptile Education is tremendous.  This is why we need your help.

Public Education:  First and foremost is public education.  All of the displays and lectures you see at Nature Centers, State Parks, etc. are done free of charge.  After all, you can't charge a non-profit.  So while, admission may be paid to the facility, there is no compensation for time, supplies, transportation, and other expenses.  We have some great advances and improvements planned.  In addition to funds, numerous other items are gladly accepted as donations.  This includes Gift Certificates to stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Wal Mart, Printing Companies and others. Please see our Wishlist.

Conservation Initiatives:  Going hand-in-hand with education, is conservation.  In addition to promoting conservation through out public programs, we are also proactive in conservation efforts.  Most of these efforts are conceived, organized, funded, and executed by Southern Reptile Education.  Such efforts include the Rattlesnake Roundup Rescue in 2004 and our Annual Gopher Tortoise Survey at General Coffee State Park.  We have other initiatives that are on the horizon but we need your help to make them happen.  In addition to funds, numerous other items are gladly accepted as donations.  These may include Gas Cards, Grocery Store Gift Cards to help feed our volunteers, and Home Depot or Lowes gift cards for supplies. Please see our Wishlist.

Wildlife Rehabilitation and Veterinary Care:  In addition to conservation education and ambitious initiatives, it is also important to help wildlife on an individual basis.  For years, Southern Reptile Education has been providing Reptile Rescue and Rehabilitation Services.  We are equipped with an in-house clinic area which meets many of our needs, but professional Veterinary services are often required.  Thousands of dollars each year are spent on rehabilitation, medical treatment, veterinary care, and specialized care needs for our animals.  In addition to funds, medical supplies are gladly accepted as donations.  Please see our Wishlist.

Animal Husbandry:  We maintain a collection of between 50 and 150 animals at any given time.  The cost to simply house and feed this many animals is staggering.  This is particularly true of those that require very specialized husbandry, such as the American Alligator and the "Giant Snakes".  In addition to funds, numerous other items are gladly accepted as donations.  This includes Gift Certificates to stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Wal Mart, PetsMart, and others. Please see our Wishlist.

Our Corporate Sponsors help a great deal in providing us with specialized supplies and services, the rest of the funds come from individual donations and fees for some of our services.  The majority, however, is paid out of pocket from the owners.  This is why your help is needed to continue our work.  No donation is too small and all is greatly appreciated.  We sincerely thank you for your support.
